Your First Visit

How to Prepare for Your First Visit

Before your consultation, gather your dental insurance information, a list of current medications, relevant medical or dental history, and any questions you would like the doctor to address. If another provider referred you or recently took diagnostic records, ask our team whether those materials should be sent in advance.

Your initial evaluation is designed to identify orthodontic concerns and determine the appropriate next step. Beginning treatment is not automatic, and some patients—especially younger children—may benefit from observation until the timing is right. If treatment is recommended, the team will explain suitable options, estimated timing, appointment expectations, costs, and payment arrangements.

We encourage patients and parents to ask about comfort, oral hygiene, diet, sports, instruments, travel, aligner wear, or anything else that may affect daily life. Clear expectations make it easier to choose a plan confidently.

Your consultation appointment is the first step to a lifetime of beautiful smiles

We are always excited to meet new patients, as we have so many different treatment options for every need and lifestyle. We know your time is valuable, so Dr. Schulhof will reserve enough time to perform a full orthodontic examination to discuss your treatment plan along with all possible options.

The doctor may decide that diagnostic records are needed to achieve this, so we may take digital photos and radiographs to help develop your treatment plan.

You will leave the appointment with a complete picture of all possible options and treatment plans and with all your questions answered, addressing both clinical and financial concerns. Soon you’ll be well on your way to a beautiful smile!
